Final Pitch

The Vendetta: Final Pitch

With Sir's feedback and questioning, I was able to go over my trailer final pitch treatment sheet and add any extra information that I saw fit. The questions that sir asked in his feedback of my film trailer were real eye openers and inciteful. Questions such as:

  1. What type of gang are they? Deviant?
  2. How will you introduce them into the trailer?
  3. What is their point of connection, school? Where do they live?
  4. Why a race crime? Will this be a scene in the trailer?
  5. What level of eduction will they be in?
  • Title of Film: The Vendetta x "Mess With Our Family, Mess With Yours."
  • Outline Of Ideas: The plot synopsis of our film is there are four girls who live similar lifestyles, but have different personalities. They all tend to come across as quite deviant, follow their own rules, don't like being bossed around. {What type of gang are they?}They are a deviant, loud gang I would say. Not ones to cause trouble unless trouble comes their way. They may come across as ordinary school girls but the fact that they're in a gang shows how they are different and conspicious. {What is their point of connection, school? Where do they live?} One is serious, second girl is aggressive, third girl is girly, fourth girl is funny/clumsy. The leader of the girl gang is the serious one.
  •  {How will you introduce them into the trailer?} The girls will be introduced through their personality traits. We want the leader to firstly be the one to appear on the screen, in a hoodie and with the camera tracking her as she walks to their secret location meeting spot. When she arrives, a light will suddenly switch on and one of the girls will ask her what took her so long. Then the trailer will freeze on her face, a black and white filter will be used and this will lead into her being introduced separately, giving an insight into her life inside/outside of school. The same will happen for all the other girls and the last girl to be introduced in this way will be the main girl leader, whose introduction will lead into the murder of her younger brother.
  • The sibling of one of the girls gets shot by an off duty police officer. The police officer gets away with the killing as no one is able to find out that he carried it out. The girl was a witness to the shooting/murder but no one believes her. The police rule her brother's murder as a gang associated murder. In addition to this, the police officer was actually harassing the girl one night, henceforth why her brother came to save her but unfortunately he gets killed by the police officer. The girl vows to get revenge on the police officer with her girl gang. {Why a race crime? Will this be a scene in the trailer?} The #BlackLivesMatter movement has been seen all across Twitter, stemmed particuarly from an African-American movement that stands up against the mistreatment of African American people in the hands of police officers. Police brutality is definitely a huge problem not just in America but world wide. We wanted to highlight some of the issues of police brutality in modern day Britain. We plan to have the race crime in the trailer as the brother of the girl leader will be murdered by a police officer of black enthinicty. We wanted to subvert away from the stereotypical black versus white crimes in gangster films.
What conventions of the genre will be included in your trailer?
The trailer will include a leader, that is in charge of the girl gang, including helping coming up with plans and ideas with the revenge of the police officer. {What level of education will they be in?}The four females will all be sixth formers who attend sixth form five days a week. The conventions of a group of gangsters will be included in the trailer, they will be females and students who are in the education system. Also the conventions of the girl gang being faced with some sort of conflict (in this case the police officer murdering a family member of one of the girls) The locations of the trailer will be in various places all over East London. East London is an urban area so it fits quite well with the gangster crime convention.

Where will your trailer be set? What other aspects of mies-en-scene do you need to consider?
The trailer will be set in various locations all over East London. We will be using houses, areas in our sixth form, shorditch, brick lane and stratford. The aspects of mies-en-scene we need to consider is clothing as since the girls are gangsters living in an urban area, we wouldn't really expect them to be dressed glamorously. They could wear jumpers, jeans, trainers, tracksuits. Another aspect of mies-en-scene that we must consider are props. The girls should have basketballs, steel bars and typical weapons that would expected of a girl gang in East London. I feel that the girls having guns would be a little unrealistic. They could somehow get hold of one illegal gun but I don't think they should all have guns and start walking around with them.
